Kelvin is a friend of mine since school days. He is an adventurous school scout and had earn lots and lots of badges. Just to find empty place to stick a badge on his scout uniform is a challenge. Both Kelvin and Bibie wanted to have their pre-wedding memories taken in Kadazan traditional costume is something really special and, personally like the idea very much. Both Giap Yong (known as GY) and Ming Hooi are a lovely and friendly couple. GY is truly a humble person from the way he talk to everyone. His friendly personality is something worth mentioning too. I worked together with psykit for GY’s wedding ceremony. The wedding dinner is held at Pearl Island Country Club, Penang. While the actual wedding day is scheduled on the following day. My friend, Haw En is running a western food business and approached me to take few products that he sell in his stall. These photos will be used in his menu and advertisement to promote his stall. The outcome is really good I would say. A special thanks to Haw En for chipping in some useful comments on the food composition that day. Not to forget is his talented chef helps, preparing the delicious foods.

One really important note is that all photos showcase here is the exact serving that you will be expecting from him. Haw En emphasized to me that he wanted all food proportions that I took should represent the actual end product his customers will get. This is really unlike some menus you see in some restaurants. Sometimes I am surprise to receive food which is totally different from the menu. Here, I can assure that you will get what you really wanted. No wonder his business is somehow better than the others. Please enjoy the food below.

Accompanying 2 bosses to Batu Feringgi for souvenir  shopping. First time to walked the whole stretch roadside-stalls. I believe that is it about 1 kilometer. Here, it is famous for its cheap DVDs. Ironically, I hardly notice any DVD stalls. Erm, maybe just one or two of those. Are they keeping themselves low profile and out of the eye of the law. By just gaze around you are able to find various attractive, colorful and eye candy goodies. But they are totally not cheap. The starting price for most of the items are pretty high though. They are unwilling to drop even a penny. Perhaps, they know that the 2 foreigners that walked with me will afford the price. Check out my simple night capture of Batu Feringgi.

It was an tiring walk. Our walk from one end to the other end and back to where we started, took us 2 hours. Yeah. I skipped my exercise session that day but I believe that this will be more than enough for me. Reached home to get my sleep at 12 am. Penang is famous for its durian season which start from May to July every year. Durian is the king of all fruits. It is a very special fruits which offer an unique taste for its lover. You will either love it or really hate it. However for me, I am more to the neutral side which still alright to take 2 or 3 durians. I always told my friend that, “I did not say that I don’t eat durians, but I just don’t like them as much”.

That day, we went to Balik Pulau craving for the smelly and tastylicious fruit. It took us approximate 30 min journey from Tesco Extra Sungai Dua to Uncle John durian orchard. Road to his orchard wasn’t easy. It is bumpy and isolated. After few wrong turning, we stopped our cars near an Indian temple in an unknown bush and walked 200 meters into the bush. Everyone sigh in relieve once we spotted Uncle John’s old Mercedes parked just beside a whole bunch of durians. Yeah, it is durian time. Without waiting for Uncle John. We searched for durian which has small crack on the bottom of it and use our strength to force it to open. The first to get in my mouth was the best of all. That was my first durian after a year of waiting.

Time pass by real fast. We spend about 1 hour in his orchard. We had the opportunity to try various type of durians. Uncle John offered us “Ang He”, “Hor Lor”, “Che Puih”, “Biawak”, D24 and some very nice local durian (we called them as kampung durian). Besides that, the sweet purplish mangosteen was plentifully available. Tips from him on opening the mangosteen really come in handy.

One sweet and creamy durian. Anyone want one of those. You can get some of those in Uncle John’s orchard for just RM 15 this year.

Went over to Jusco Bandar Perda last week for Raymond Lam in person promo tour. Personally, he looks slimmer compared to the one when I watch on TV. He is quite fair too. Moonlight Resonance is the drama he acted that I like the most. Anyway, check out the rest of my coverage for the day.
